Sex slavery in Europe has grown to unprecedented numbers in the last few years. There are more than 30,000 prostitutes in Belgium with the
majority coming from Bulgaria and Romania. They are lured out of their countries by promise of lucrative jobs in modeling or waitressing then
are trapped by “owners” who have stolen their passports. They threaten harm to their families back home if they try to escape.
Brussels has also become the European center for the tradeCurrently it is estimated that approximately four million people are trafficked and sold worldwide. The human trafficking industry ranks among the top three highest grossing illegal criminal industries along with illegal drugs and arms. ($32 billion globally) It may be the
in child prostitutes
capital of the grand European project but, according to an alarming new report, Brussels has also become the European center for the trade in child prostitutes, who are being smuggled into Belgium to feed a growing demand.
NinthHour is partnering with two other ministries in Antwerp and Brussels in reaching these victims who are trapped in the sex
industry. Through prayer and weekly outreach in the red light district many prostitutes in Antwerp are being touched by the love of God.
Several over the last year have decided to step out of the business and are involved in ongoing discipleship and training to make a new
life for themselves outside of prostitution. Many of the ladies in the district are coming through the ministry center in the district
every week. We offer English and Dutch classes, as well as jewelry-making classes and Bible study. At least one evening a week we prepare
dinner for anyone who wants to come to the apartment. We believe that in order for the ladies to open up their hearts to Jesus and step out
of prostitution, they first need to be able to trust those who are trying to help them. Lives are literally being changed weekly.
By God’s grace we plan on securing a ministry center apartment in the Brussels red light district, as well as a safe house in Belgium for
prostitutes to stay when they want to step out of the business. We are believing for breakthrough in Brussels. We pray weekly for this. It is
in this place of intercession where the battles are won on the ground in those dark places. Without prayer we have no hope of lives being
affected and the atmosphere changing. Please pray with us that the forces of evil will be pushed back and that these centers of
prostitution and trafficking will be dissolved.
